how to read more books

Buy multiple books at once

The more books available to you, the more choices you have, and this will help you read more. Usually, you finish a book and then look through your bookshelf to decide what to read next. If there isn’t a suitable option at hand, you stop reading until you come across something truly worthwhile. As such, it is important that you always have at least a minimum supply of books.

read constantly

Read constantly

Read at least 1 hour a day. Find time for this in your schedule. Don’t make excuses that you are too tired or too busy. You take public transport, feed the baby, eat, sit in line at the clinic, miss your work - read! Do this while many others check their Facebook or Instagram page for the 1000th time in a day. If you read 10 hours a week, you will read 26,000 pages a year! Let’s say the average book has 250 pages. Simple arithmetic: that means you can read 104 books in just a year. Moreover, you can even take a break for 2 weeks, and you still will have read 100 books!

Buy an e-book

People who prefer e-books can read much more than people who stick to the classical method. E-books are portable, lightweight and convenient. With them, it’s easier to set aside some time for reading and it’s much easier to find new reading material.

crowd reading

Don’t follow the crowd

Accept the fact that you simply don’t like many books, though they have received worldwide recognition. Not all books are for everyone, and that’s fine. Therefore, don’t force yourself to read a book because it’s popular. It is much more effective to look at the reading process itself from the other side. Read books related to your profession, hobbies or interests. Read about the people who inspire you. But do not take up literature just because it is considered a classic or a bestseller.

read multiple books

Read multiple books at the same time

There are no strict rules for reading, so you can read whatever you want. If you read something complicated and cannot read it for too long, leave it for later and pick something easier. For example, before going to bed, read interesting biographies. Also, fiction is more readable in the evening. And a book about investments can wait till that time of the day when you are maximally tuned to work. That’s why sometimes, it’s better to read more than one book at a time.
